Tree patterns from Quilters Newsletter, #429. Presented as a flag pattern with 50 trees in star field position. This quilt is my design for placement of trees in vertical rows. Each tree has some green and the same trunk. Tedious paper piecing! Serendipitous find of the leaves.

Houses for Justin

Houses for Justin, by Jessica Gillis

Large Quilt 52 x 75
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted, Paper pieced

This was a block of the month project that Jane designed from Quilter's Way in Acton. The pieced blocks were easy but it took me a while to finish all the paper pieced houses. My son has just gone back to school to become an architect so this is for him for inspiration. Hopefully none of his houses will end up wonky!

Last summer I went on a quilters tour of Ireland, visiting several quilt shops and having the pleasure of participating in a trunk show and workshop with Paula Rafferty. In her workshop she showed us how to make a circular repeating pattern, transfer it to cloth and use bias tape to make the pattern. This is my design and completed project from that workshop.

Hexademania

Hexademania, by Nancy Howard

Large Quilt 57 x 60
Hand Pieced, Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted

For me, hexagons have always been an interesting shape to use in quilting. When the "hexie" craze began, I jumped on board. I loved looking for the fabrics which made the patterns look great. That meant using fabrics from my stash (a few) and buying more fabrics (to replace the ones I used from stash). This defeated my original intent of using up my stash!
