Northern Mountains

Northern Mountains, by Sue LaLone
Original design.
Wall Quilt 38 x 54
Machine Pieced, Hand Quilted

This quilt is based on the view from my vacation home at Loon Mountain. Motivation came from an empty wall that needed a special piece. After looking at the ''Accidental Landscape" book I realized that I could do this on a larger scale.

Wall Quilt 41 x 35
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted by Linda Bevins

I took a class by Ann Shaw last winter. This is one of her patterns. The pattern is traced on freezer paper and applied to fabric. The templates are then cut out and sewn together using a special method of numbering and marking each piece. It was a great class and I learned a lot.

Summer Quilt

Summer Quilt, by Phyllis Maddox

Large Quilt 100 x 100

Our winter quilt is so warm it gets kicked off to the floor in the summer. This one should be much cooler because the batting is a single layer of muslin. I starched all three layers heavily to be able to do the quilting.

Pâmoison

Pâmoison, by Kathleen McCormick
Pattern Name: Swoon by Thimble Blossoms, adaptation from doublenickelquilts.blogspot.com.
Large Quilt 72 x 72
Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted by Georgette Gagne, BlackWolf Quiting

Pâmoison is French for swoon. I bought these French fabrics in 2 successive quilt shows from the same vendor, some of the very last of the fabric. The traditional French colors and patterns caught my eye. I don't usually use a lot of yellow in quilts, but this called for it. The tiny stars were from the leftover bits from trimming the blocks. Enjoyed the process and looking forward to enjoying the quilt.

Running With Scissors, by Julie Neu

Wall Quilt 24 x 20
Machine Appliquéd, Machine Quilted, Fused

Our bee held a "Crayon Challenge" in which we picked a crayon from the box and had to use that color as inspiration. My crayon was "Shocking Pink," one of my least favorite colors. I chose to make a Warhol-inspired work of a quilt-related object. I slashed the background and zigzag stitched it back together to reinforce the title.
