Inspired by the "Country Bride Quilt" book published in 1988. I designed the floral wreaths and border quilting. I worked on this sporadically for several years, adding more quilting and embroidered details as time went on.

My first heavily embellished quilt! It�s for my Asian�themed room at home. Appliqué is my favorite method and there�s lots of appliqué in this quilt. The Geisha girl herself and the top of the quilt are from Gingko Goddesses, �The Empress Mari�, (Lonni Rossi�s pattern) but the sides and the embellishing were my idea.

After I finished my Where�s Buddy? quilt in 2006, I knew I had to make a portrait of his sister, Scout. This was a challenge since she�s a solid black cat! Her face contains 16 colors and over 1000 one-inch rectangles. From a distance, her intense gaze materializes in the lush, green foliage of our backyard.

This benefit quilt is the first joint effort of the new "Scrap Happy Quilters" bee (Holly Abnet, Amy Breiting, Alisar Cohen, Dorien Keusseyen, Carolyn McShane, and Tricia Rosenthal). Using a few foundation fabrics, we added patches from our stashes and collaborated on the setting. Tricia Rosenthal put the blocks together and did the hand quilting.

Made by Helen Pride, Mary D'Amico, Barbara Tarrh, Jan Shaw and Chris Crouch. Our bee divided up material from a benefit package and each made 3 house blocks. The money from the sale of this quilt will be used for our guild charities such as "Reach".

This garden quilt started with a Stack-n-Whack block that had been tossed aside. After adding a few strips it became an ok 12" block. Then Mary added triangles, Barbara appliqué, Helen rectangles, and Chris the blossoms. Wow! How it grew! Thanks to everyone who helped.

I discovered "CIRCLES" by Sheryl Croft when a fabric representative was at Cambridge Quilt Shop. I loved the geometric pattern and knew that I had to make it. Fabrics were collected from here and there, including Denver and Montana.

Several years ago i saw this pattern on an Alex Anderson Simply Quilts show. As there was no pattern, I devised my own, first cutting the backgrounds from paper to get the correct size. I worked on it sporadically, finishing it this spring, glad for hand work on long car trips.

Begun in a design workshop with Elizabeth Barton at Quilting by the lake. Fabrics are mostly hand dyed by the artist.

An African Village

I bought these two African fabrics from Christine Covert, also know as the African Fabric Lady, when she was the speaker at a RSQ guild meeting. One is a hand made pictorial batik from West Africa,and the other is a tie-dye on a linen napkin.

I enlarged the pattern to fit space over the large fireplace log mantle in our home in Waterville Valley, NH. I used a different batik for each piece in the bear and also for each leaf. Wool yarn created the branches.

Elements were created using only three hand dyed fabrics (containing all the colors needed), and just a general placement of the pieces. At first this seemed to be a difficult quilt to construct, but I quickly adjusted to the freedom it gave me to really create my own pieces from a set pattern.

The colors, baskets, flowers, and most of all- the WIDE green rick rack! had me salivating when I saw this pattern made up at a vendor's booth several years ago at The Gathering. Many thanks to my dear friend, Deb, for surprising me with the kit for my birthday. It was fun to make, and I will smile every time I walk by it at home.
