I collected the yellows and oranges for a while. I decided to cut the fabrics into random strips and just go from there. The bits of red were added for contrast. Quilted with a close, meandering zigzag.

When I saw this McKenna Ryan pattern, I knew it was perfect for my granddaugher Madeline who has adopted a manatee from the Save a Manatee Club in Florida. It is machine appliquéd and hand embellished.

I had a 12 inch pillow kit in my stash of UFOs, and some new quilting templates from Diana Snow to try out. When I finished the first square I liked it, so I added to it with gingham from my stash. It will be a gift for a special friend who likes traditional quilts.

This was a fun quilt I did in a workshop with Laura Wasilowski. I loved her fabric and had a blast making up my own flowers and garden. The embroidery afterwards became a compulsion. I needed the brightness of this quilt to cheer me up after my mother's death.

Alyssa, my granddaughter, received this quilt as a gift for her high school graduation. The quilt was designed by Holly Holderman and appeared in the June 2008 issue of "American Patchwork & Quilting". The roses were foundation pieced.

A gift to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, this quilt is for my husband, Larry McCray, whose ties of many years grace each of the blocks. The block design is �True Lover�s Knot�. Thus, inspired by this year�s challenge theme, I have named the quilt �Tie-ing the Knot�.

As a member of the Fabric Place Quilt Club we were presented with several block patterns every month from the book: "Around the Block". We each chose a size and layout and used our own fabric choices. I chose a layout which allowed feathers to run the length of the quilt.

An Antique quilt donated to benefit Rising Star Quilt Guild. The stripey pieced back adds to the mystery of this whole cloth, hand quilted, cheater-fabric made 1880 to 1890 and the quilt resided in a trunk in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the last 30 years.

After my wonderful neighbor, Walter Lind, died in 2007, his wife Kathy gave me some of his shirts and T-shirts. I made her this quilt in his memory, focusing on his favorite spot, Three Mile Island. I used a 13 1/2" block size to accommodate the largest logos, then subdivided it freely into squares, rectangles, and half-square triangles.

I started with a pinwheel block. The boarders followed first with Chris Crouch, then Jan Shaw, then Mary D'Amico, and lastly with Barbara Tarrh. My bee-ladies outdid themselves and created a quilt I absolutely love. What a treasure. Thank-you ladies!

My son chose this pattern and the colors. The quilt has over 1900 pieces. I cut all the pieces before having hand surgery and then sewed the star blocks together using one hand. It was great therapy and got me through the winter months! I hope he loves it as much as I loved making it.
