I collected the yellows and oranges for a while. I decided to cut the fabrics into random strips and just go from there. The bits of red were added for contrast. Quilted with a close, meandering zigzag.

This was a fun quilt I did in a workshop with Laura Wasilowski. I loved her fabric and had a blast making up my own flowers and garden. The embroidery afterwards became a compulsion. I needed the brightness of this quilt to cheer me up after my mother's death.

An Antique quilt donated to benefit Rising Star Quilt Guild. The stripey pieced back adds to the mystery of this whole cloth, hand quilted, cheater-fabric made 1880 to 1890 and the quilt resided in a trunk in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the last 30 years.

After my wonderful neighbor, Walter Lind, died in 2007, his wife Kathy gave me some of his shirts and T-shirts. I made her this quilt in his memory, focusing on his favorite spot, Three Mile Island. I used a 13 1/2" block size to accommodate the largest logos, then subdivided it freely into squares, rectangles, and half-square triangles.

My son chose this pattern and the colors. The quilt has over 1900 pieces. I cut all the pieces before having hand surgery and then sewed the star blocks together using one hand. It was great therapy and got me through the winter months! I hope he loves it as much as I loved making it.
