This quilt is the result of sorting through my box of "orphan blocks." The blocks came from many sources - quilt show boutiques, the "Free Table" at RSQ meetings, Internet block swaps, and my own leftover blocks. I loved the design process and hope to create many more.

Beneath the Surface

Layers of batik are stitched in loose flower petals, then cut away to reveal the colors beneath. I saw the technique in an issue of Quilting Arts and decided to give it a try.

The ombre fabric strips and pattern were my inspiration. It was worked on for two years and spring fling and finished this year. The rainbow of color makes such a happy quilt and certainly reflective of the good news of 2015, Love Wins!
