This is a "Fabric Challenge" that my bee (Binding Threads) gave ourselves this year. Each of our quilts had to use a minimum of 4 sq. inches of each of our 8 common fabrics, plus we could add two more fabrics of our own choosing if desired.

At home they're displayed individually, but I've mounted them all together temporarily just for this show.

I saw a similar quilt in the window of a closed shop in NJ. I called when I returned home, ordered the pattern and yardage. Until I finished, I was never certain of having enough material. Stressful! In southern NJ they go "down the shore" to get to the beaches.

I saw the "Spooktacular" pattern , designed by Williamson Creative Services, in a book. I thought it would be a great project to work on with my day care kids. The children, ages 2-6, chose all the colors and placement on the quilt. They watched as I sewed it together. It a was fantastic learning experience for us all.

This quilt, a gift to my sister and brother-in-law, was started a few years ago in a Cathy Berry Community Education class in Lexington. Little did I know how long it would take to finish! The blocks were from Cathy; the borders are my design. The birds were all ones that frequented my feeder each winter as I worked.

The BIRDS pattern in this quilt was created by Australian quilter Michelle Hill. Inspired by the creative genius of British designer William Morris (1834-1896), Michelle designed this and the other appliqué patterns found in her books WILLIAM MORRIS IN APPLIQUE and MORE WILLIAM MORRIS IN APPLIQUE.

Cambridge is just covered with blooming gardens in the spring. I tried to create this explosion of color in my quilt. I have used recycled wool from old cloth for the panels and cotton for the background. The quilt is hand embroidered, hand beaded and hand and machine appliquéd.

The top 4 is the house. The green x's is the field. The plaid is the picnic area. The frogs is the frog pond. The blue is the river, and the cherries is the cherry patch. The flowers is the flower garden, and the carrots is the vegetable garden. I am 10 and I did this completely by hand.

I joined an online Liberated Round Robin medallion quiltalong. Directions: -CENTER block - take something already made and try a few "what ifs". -Make some CRUMBS, piecing together scraps to use later on. -Add some COLOR - I added the blue. -Sew it together with SERENDIPITY in mind.

This was a Christmas Tree pattern purchased a few years ago and I finally was able to put it together. The wall hanging is hand appliquéd and embellished with Savorsky Crystals using a Hot Fix Gun. I decided to try machine quilting it myself and was pleased with the results.
