The 2009 Rising Star Quilt Show
The 22nd annual Quilt Show and Sale
will be held on
Saturday & Sunday, October 3rd and 4th, 2009
Times:
- Saturday: 10 am to 5 pm
- Sunday: 11 am to 4 pm
Location:
- Cary Memorial Hall
- 1605 Massachusetts Avenue in Lexington Center
Location notes:
- The front of the building says Isaac Harris Cary Memorial Building
- The building is between the Police Station and Town Office Building
- Free Parking at the rear of the building*
- Handicapped Accessible
*Please be sure to avoid the parking spaces reserved for the police!
About the show
- Two exhibit halls, one on each floor
- On the entry level you will find:
- Our wonderful Boutique
- Our Café
- Demonstrations by RSQ members
- Our Raffle Quilt and Mini-quilt Raffle
- And of course, many, many quilts!
- On the lower level you will find:
- Vendors
- And even more quilts including our challenge quilts: this year's challenge is to interpret an idiom!
- Signs will direct visitors to the free quilt show parking areas behind the buildings.
- Handicap parking is available in the driveway in front of Cary Hall.
- A portion of the proceeds will be donated to REACH ... beyond domestic violence
- Admission $5.00
Directions to the show:
By car:
From Rt. 128 / 95 take exit 31A Rt. 4 & 225 toward Lexington. Drive 1.9 miles into Lexington Center. Cary Hall will be on your left.
From Rt. 2 East take 128 / 95 north take exit 31A Rt. 4 & 225 toward Lexington. Drive 1.9 miles into Lexington Center. Cary Hall will be on your left.
From Rt. 2 West take Exit 54B Waltham St. 1.8 miles to Lexington Center. At the end of the street turn right onto Mass. Ave. Cary Hall is 0.1 miles ahead on the left.
From Arlington or Cambridge, go west on Mass. Ave. towards Lexington Center. Cary Hall is on your right just after the police station.

By public transit:
MBTA - Saturday only: Take bus 62/76 from Alewife Station or the Arlington Heights teminal. Get off in Lexington Center. The bus runs approximately every hour. View bus schedule. (opens in new window)
Note: there is no bus service to Lexington on Sundays.
Bus 77 also goes from Harvard Square up Mass Ave. to the Arlington Heights terminal.
By bicycle:
Cary Hall is on the Minuteman Bike Path. There are bike racks at Cary Hall.
2009 Raffle Quilt: Rhapsody
The 2009 raffle quilt is "Rhapsody" a high energy queen size quilt made up of 4 different sized churn dash squares constructed from Kaffe Fassett and contrasting fabrics. The colors are blues, reds, lime green, purples and some oranges. Of course, one corner has a rising star! Guild members have hand quilted the top to a blue backing. A portion of the proceeds from this quilt will be donated to REACH...beyond domestic violence.
